Responsibilities:



Working with the General Manager and Chief Technology Office you will:
•    Engage, focus, and lead informal teams;
•    Be Proactive, Troubleshoot and problem solve  
•    Initiate process improvements that increase quality, timeliness, efficiency and output;
•    Be a champion for continuous improvement;
•    Act as a liaison with internal and external customers.
•    Grow and share your technical and leadership insight

Requirements

•    Review designs against Provincial, Federal, and International requirement, project standards, specifications, design criteria, and basic engineering principles.
•    Review and approve relevant engineering documents and drawings.
•    Support engineering, management and construction/installation teams and other engineering disciplines on piping, plot plans, equipment layout and other opportunities.
•    Work with other engineering specialists, Sales Account Managers, Marketing Managers on the project
•    Act as resident engineer for QA/QC scope, remote review & guidance
-    Provide direction and design review for all phases of the project;
-    Perform system walk downs and checks during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start up;
-    Monitor and track installation data packages from construction inspectors and ensure that all relevant construction data is stored in the company’s database (simple for now)
-    Ensure document knowledge is protected
-    Ensure Metrology standards are met

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Technical Skills
•    Mechanical Engineering degree, P.Eng., coupled with registration, or eligibility for registration, as Professional Engineering activity in Alberta is required
•    Solid organizational skills with proven ability to be flexible and adaptable in a small Company environment
•    Minimum of 5+ years experience in manufacturing involving in many areas including: electro-mechanical, electrical systems, instrumentation, products designed for harsh environmental service,
•    In depth Knowledge of CSA requirements
•    Field Project Team Installation experience and insight is a definite asset.
•    Full knowledge of the life cycle of pipelines, terminal facilities engineering from design to maintenance is nice to have;
•    Experience in oil and gas with preference given to work experience in an operating facility, fabrication environment would be an asset;
•    Knowledge OF ASME B31.3, Z662, and ASME Sec VIII Div 1, ATEX, NEMA 4X would be an asset
•    Familiarity with underground pipe installation and/or in-ground service is an asset, as is familiarity with placing equipment into service in some gas plants, tar sands plants, refineries, and other primary industry environments

•    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
•    Worked in a small company quality environment
•    Ability to self-start and follow through tasks
•    Expertise in developing and updating project specifications and standards, design supervision and construction support.
•    Broad scope knowledge of engineering designs and understanding of industry codes, registry requirements and standards and construction methods.
•    Desirable to have oil and gas industry experience
